LAURIE HILLIER
Dear Members
Sadly, as you will probably know by now, Laurie passed away on Friday 9 th March 2007. His funeral will be held at Basingstoke Crematorium on Friday 23 rd March at mid-day and afterwards at the Royal Oak Goodworth Clatford and I know that Marilyn would be pleased to welcome as many CADS members to either or both of these.
Laurie was born and lived most of his life in Goodworth Clatford and was a long serving member of the Parish Council. When Alwyn and I moved to the village Laurie was just about the first person we met. He was a fine, tall, strong-framed man with a beaming smile and broad Hampshire accent! We saw him often as he made his way between his home and his work at Manor Farm. We have fond memories of him calling up Marilyn with his CB from his tractor – his handle was ‘Hayseeds'.
Laurie loved CADS and the people in it. When Forest Forge were developing the millennium pageant Laurie, of course, had longer memories than most and contributed greatly. It was perhaps fitting that in ‘CADS Bang Wallop, he sang ‘I Remember it Well'. Besides having a mellow and tuneful singing voice he also enjoyed doing a reading in ‘Christmas in Clatford' adding a touch that was all of his own.
Laurie will be missed not only by CADS members but by everyone that knew him.

It would be sensible to ‘double up' on lifts to Basingstoke so please give me a call on 324513 and I will do any organising necessary. Also I understand that Marilyn wants to make this a happy ‘sending off' and has chosen some cheerful songs for the funeral service I'm sure we can help with this.
All good wishes
