THE TIME HAS COME

When we formed our society last October I suggested that our aim in life was to 'perform in public.....once we had the necessary skills! Wellllll after being slightly urged to get on and do something, the committee had a council of war, oops sorry - a serious planning meeting.

Phil joined the committee and we went through all the thoughts and suggestions which have been made, we talked about the sort of things the group would be capable of doing and we also gave much consideration about what we thought the audience would enjoy and then return for MORE!!!

We also talked about the resources that would be needed to put on such a show. The main resource is, of course, Mainly Ourselves then money. We hope that the Village Club will be successful in applying for a grant - some of which would go towards stage curtains. On top of this we must think about other costs such as hiring lighting, building scenery, making props, costumes and make up. We have not yet worked out a budget or whether funding raising and/or sponsorship should be done - bearing in mind that ticket sales would cover at least some of the costs.

As you can see there is quite a bit of involvement in putting on a show and as a committee we are keen to ensure that we can all give the commitment to reaching our goal.

Your committee then bit the bullet and asked ourselves the question - when could we put on a show of what type and for how many nights! This then, is the general plan - to put on a show with items and sketches with a fair smattering of musical content that would not be too challenging. The evening for the audience would include wine and supper and we would perform on 3 nights - Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

We originally said we wanted to perform in the autumn - we then worked out how many Fridays we needed to cover required number of workshops, rehearsals and member's holidays. So the dates we feel are most realistic are the 15 th - 17 th November 2001. These dates are subject to discussion at our next meeting and any clashes with other organisations.

So there you have it - can I ask that you all do a diary check and bring it to our meeting on Friday (6 th April 2001 @ 7.45pm) so we can have a full discussion about any aspect related to this proposal.

See you there

Cliff
