NEW BEGINNINGS

As you can see from the heading we are now the Clatford Amateur Dramatic Society or CADS for short. but I'm not so sure about the font or logo. Therefore, for anyone who understands these terms I wish to offer a challenge: -

I am prepared to offer a bottle of Champagne to anyone who designs a letterhead and logo for our society - proving we agree to adopt the design!!

Unfortunately the announcement of our society in the Clatfords' Magazine got wrongly attributed to Abbotts Ann - an appropriate correction will appear in their next issue!!

LAST MEETING

It would seem our meeting on the 20 th October 2000 was good fun and enjoyed by all.

On the business front, besides democratically agreeing on our new name we also agreed that for the time being we would pay a sub of a £1 each time we came to a meeting. We may in due course change this to an annual membership - amount to be decided.

All present filled out a Membership Form and we now have 20 registered members - and there are still a few out there who were unable to attend the meeting. We would like to keep membership details as up-to-date as possible so if you are getting hi-tech with an email address, please let me Sharon or Sally know - this could save us a lot of paper as time goes by.

The readings were all excellent - some may have shocked a little, some were of great interest and all were most enjoyable.

THEATRE TRIP

Alan has got the tickets for Oddsocks - Hamlet the Panto - at Cricklade and Annie will bring them to our next meeting.

All those who said 'yes' to this would you kindly bring your money to the next meeting so we can avoid Alan being made bankrupt. The price of a ticket is £9 and concessions £7.

NEXT MEETING - 10 th November 2000 @ 7.45pm - Goodworth Clatford Village Club

Our next meeting will start with a business bit as usual and followed by the fun bit.

We will use the business bit to collect the £1 sub for the evening and the ticket money for Alan. There will be an update on membership and a discussion about the December meeting and future meetings.

NEXT MEETING (continued)

One other thing we wish to discuss is getting in place a 'public performance'. To give this some edge we want to set up a small 'production team' who will be asked to put together a few ideas for a performance and a time scale in which it might be achieved. Please give this some thought as I will be asking for volunteers on Friday evening when we meet!!!!

We will once again be providing our own entertainment. Just to remind you we said that we would all bring a news clipping (or 2 just in case someone else has forgotten) plus, what we called an 'emotion'. What we are looking for are ways in which we will read the news item - and here are a few for starters - acridly, drunkenly, secretively... and some 'in the styles of' for example - like a judge, a vicar or Churchillian. over to you for your words and styles of.

The format will be much the same as last time - draw a name, new paper cutting and word/style of out of a hat and sit back and enjoy.

DECEMBER MEETING

As this is sort of pre-Christmas we thought we might do a Forest Forge style evening using 'the Twelve Days of Christmas' as our theme - I think we'll talk about this on Friday.

In addition we hope to have compiled some highlights from old Clatford Players videos. These we be shown whilst we are enjoying mince pies and wine.

FUTURE MEETINGS

Looking forward to next year we thought that the first meeting should include a discussion of ideas that would hopefully been forthcoming from the 'production team'.

The meeting after that it may be the right time to be addressed by a 'voice training' expert. If anyone has any names a such a person could they please make it known to me, Sharon or Sally.
